McDonald’s Australia are rolling out Free Wireless Internet (WiFi) at the majority of their stores Australia Wide. McDonald’s aims to provide access to customers at approximately 700 premium locations Australia-wide within the next 12 to 18 months.
Where is Free McDonalds WIFI available currently?
The rollout is taking place from October 2008 to March 2009. The planned shedule is:
www.freewifi.com.au lists the stores that are currently free and active and is update weekly. You can also view the stores with existing user pay Telstra hotspots.
Is there Limit?
There is a 50Mb per session download restriction at the moment. This is clearly displayed when logging on after you accept the T&Cs. This includes uploads and downloads. I am not sure what is classified as a session? Maybe once you use your 50Mb you can log off and straight back in again for another 50Mb…. If you find out let me know
How long can I idle?
10 minutes then you just need to go through the terms and conditions again.
Is there a Time limit?
Not at the moment but I am sure this is something that McDonald’s will look into.
What can’t I access?
The Terms and conditions will be there for you to read but you should know that there will be people working on providing safe family access to the McDonald’s Internet. No No’s include Peer-to-Peer downloads like torrents, porn and other socially unacceptable and immoral content.
Do I have to make a Purchase?
At the moment you do not need to make a purchase to use the internet.
