How to choose the best credit card for you
There are so many credit card choices, how do you choose the best one for your particular situation? Stores that accept credit cards aren’t too picky, but you should be. You may need one of the credit cards for bad credit or one of the secured credit cards, but either way, you’ll want to examine the terms and fees carefully.
Credit cards for bad credit are often offered with high interest rates. The idea is that to avoid paying the interest charges, you’ll pay off all charges monthly. They sometimes also have high annual fees, so look for one that either has no annual fee or a reasonable one.
Secured credit cards have a set credit limit that is secured by funds you have deposited in a designated account. With secured credit cards, if you attempt to charge a purchase that will take you over your limit, it will be declined. These are wonderful cards to choose when you want to re-build your credit. Merchants who accept credit cards will take these just like regular cards, in fact it’s likely they won’t even know it’s a secured card at all.
While some companies advertise credit cards for bad credit, any card can help you re-build your credit if used cautiously. Stores that accept credit cards are more concerned with your willingness to pay for what you purchase, than the type of card you use.
If considering a credit card to establish or re-establish credit, look for ones with no annual fees and low interest rates. Paying these extra charges will make it that much more difficult to achieve that great rating. Take your time to find the best credit card for you and then use it as a tool to obtain or keep a positive credit rating.
